IAR&T (IB) Staff CICS Ltd was initially known and addressed as IAR&T (IB) Staff CTCS. The idea to establish this venture was mooted by the IAR&T Staff club in the year 1987. It therefore came to be as a result of the failure of the one, the Junior Staffers of IAR&T established prior to 1987 which died prematurely due to lack of knowledge, inexperience and poor handling of cooperative issues on the part of the pro tem executives then. The IAR&T (IB) CTCS as it was called then, actually came into existence in January 1988 as a fall – out of the report of the constituted committee on its establishment which got the approval of the IAR&T Staff Club which could be referred to as the parent of the IAR&T (IB) Staff CTCS. Members of this constituted interim committee were: Messrs S. A. Oyeleye, S. K. Oni, G. Oladapo, T. Oyetunji and Mrs. B.O. Ikhizama. Based on the approval of the Staff club whose members constitute prominently the pioneer members of the society, the inaugural meeting of the society was therefore held on Wednesday 2nd March, 1988 where the pioneer executive committee was constituted as stated below:
Mr.S.A.Oyeneye - President
Dr. B. A. Ogunbodede - Vice President
Mr.S.K.Oni - Secretary
Mr.G.Oladapo - Treasurer
Dr. A. M. Daramola - Ex – Officio
Mrs. B. O. Ikhizama - Ex – Officio
Mr. L. Oyedepo - Ex – Officio
The society, however, metamorphosed into its new nomenclature as IAR&T (IB) Staff CICS Ltd through a duly processed letter of application to the governing body – The ministry of commerce, industry and cooperatives in line with the relevant provision of its bye-laws and the cooperative rules and regulations on the 9th July, 1996 which was approved on the 11th October, 1996 with amended registration No. 672.
